The Businesses We Work With

Independent operators and the managers who look after buildings. Each card lists the equipment that kind of business usually needs help with.

Restaurants and cafés

From counter-service spots near campus in College Park to sit-down dining rooms in downtown Bethesda. A reach-in drifting warm before the lunch rush puts product and inspections at risk.

  • Reach-in and undercounter refrigeration
  • Refrigerated prep tables
  • Commercial ranges, ovens and fryers
  • Ice machines and bins

Bars and coffee counters

Ice and cold beverage storage carry the whole operation. When the ice machine slows down, it usually happens on the busiest night of the week.

  • Cube and nugget ice machines
  • Back-bar and glass-door coolers
  • Undercounter glass washers
  • Beverage and keg refrigeration

Markets, bakeries and caterers

Family-run groceries, bakeries and prepared-food kitchens that hold product cold all day and cook on the same equipment every morning.

  • Display and merchandising coolers
  • Walk-in cooler and freezer components
  • Convection and deck ovens
  • Dish machines

Property managers and condo associations

Garden-apartment complexes and high-rises with a shared laundry room on each floor or in the basement, plus the kitchens inside individual units.

  • Common-area washers and dryers
  • In-unit refrigerators, ranges and dishwashers
  • Stacked laundry in apartment closets
  • Access arranged through management

Offices and break rooms

The shared refrigerator, ice maker and dishwasher that everyone relies on and nobody claims until it quits.

  • Break-room refrigerators and freezers
  • Ice makers and their water lines
  • Dishwashers and microwaves
  • Appointments during office hours

Clinics, studios and salons

Small practices running a single washer-dryer for towels or one staff refrigerator, where losing it for a week disrupts the day.

  • Laundry for towels and linens
  • Staff refrigerators
  • Small undercounter ice makers
  • Visits fitted between appointments

How a Service Call Runs for a Business

Four stages from first contact to a repair that sticks. For background on a particular machine, see the ice maker repair page and refrigerator repair page, or our guide to keeping a restaurant kitchen running.

  1. 1

    Send the data-plate details

The maker, model and serial from the equipment's data plate, what it's doing, and your hours. Tell us if it's full of product that will need to come out.

  2. 2

    Diagnosis at your location

Along with the part that failed, the technician looks for what caused it: a condenser matted with kitchen grease, scale in an ice machine's water system, a cooler crammed against a hot line.

  3. 3

    Quote to the approver

The price goes to whoever signs off on spending, whether that's the owner, the chef or the building manager, and the repair waits until they do.

  4. 4

    Advice to prevent a repeat

If coil cleaning, a water filter or more breathing room around the condenser would stop it from happening again, you'll hear that, in terms you can put in your maintenance log.

FAQ

Questions From Owners and Managers

The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.

Have a different question?

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.

Reach-ins, undercounter coolers and prep tables, ice machines, dish machines and cooking equipment, in restaurants, cafés, bars, offices and similar businesses. When you call, describe what the equipment is doing and when it started.

Yes. We take calls 24/7, so a visit can be set around your open hours and rush periods; tell us them when you book. Anything that can't wait for safety or food-holding reasons, we'll flag and explain.

Ice machines from Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, Ice-O-Matic, Scotsman and Maxx Ice; refrigeration from Turbo Air, Atosa, Everest and Perlick; Hobart warewashers; Vulcan cooking equipment; and plenty of other makes.

Usually the surroundings. A condenser near the fryers slowly coats with grease, ice machines scale up, and gaskets harden and let cold air escape; heat and cramped storage speed all of it along. Put the same part in again and the failure comes back. Deal with the cause and it usually doesn't.

Yes. The technician shows you the part that failed, explains why it failed and what went in its place, and passes on any upkeep that would head off a repeat, so it can be noted in your equipment records.

Ones that match your appliance's model number. We fit the manufacturer's own part whenever it can be had; if an equivalent is the only option, you hear about it before it is installed.

Yes. Parts we install are covered for 90 days and our labor for 30 days from the date of the repair. The terms are also written on your quote, so you can read them before you approve anything.

Equipment down, or heading that way?

Call or book online with the data-plate details, the symptom and your hours. When the fault can safely wait, we'll aim for a time outside your busiest stretch.
