Independent Viking repair
Viking Appliance Repair in Maryland
Independent service for Viking ranges, rangetops, wall ovens, built-in refrigerators, wine units, dishwashers and built-in microwaves.
Booking online works too. With the Viking's model number in the form, we can check part availability before we come.
First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
Viking Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
Viking has its own service program, and we are not part of it. That means a Viking still inside the maker's warranty should be reported to Viking, not to us. Once the warranty is behind you, the heavy stainless construction usually makes repair the sensible choice, since the parts that wear out are the small ones. We test the range or refrigerator in your kitchen, name the part that failed and give you a price you approve before any work.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

Viking Appliances We Repair
A Mississippi range with a new owner
Viking began with Fred Carl Jr. in Greenwood, Mississippi, and its first range went on sale in 1987, at a time when a restaurant-style range for the home was an unusual idea. The Middleby Corporation, a commercial kitchen equipment maker, bought the company in a deal announced at the end of 2012.
Ownership shifted again in February 2026. An affiliate of the investment firm 26North completed its purchase of a controlling stake in Middleby's residential kitchen group, with Middleby keeping a minority share, and the group was renamed Composition Brands. Viking now sits alongside AGA, La Cornue, Lynx and U-Line. The practical effect for owners is that part numbers and suppliers have changed more than once over the years.
Where the brand lives around here
Many Viking ranges in Montgomery County went in during the big kitchen projects of the late 1990s and 2000s, in Potomac houses on large lots and in the rebuilt homes that replaced older ones on Bethesda and Chevy Chase streets. A lot of those kitchens were furnished all at once, with a Viking refrigerator, dishwasher and sometimes a wine unit alongside the range.
Almost all of them cook on natural gas from Washington Gas, so ignition parts and oven valves dominate the work. A range that has been in daily use for twenty years has usually outlived its first set of igniters and spark switches, and that's normal, not a sign the range is worn out.
The features that change a Viking repair
Viking's SureSpark system lights each burner at any knob position and relights it if the flame blows out, so a wet switch or a dirty electrode can make a burner click repeatedly even while it is burning. The VariSimmer setting runs the burner very low, which puts more demand on clean ports and a well-seated cap.
In the oven, TruConvec models heat with an element around the rear fan rather than from the top or bottom, and many ranges broil with the Gourmet-Glo infrared burner. Older models use mechanical thermostats with a capillary bulb, and newer ones use electronic controls and a sensor. We confirm which you have before ordering anything.
Parts
Everyday Viking parts such as igniters, electrodes, spark switches, caps, knobs, gaskets and hinges are generally easy to get. Control boards, certain valves and trim for older series can mean a wait, and some are gone. Supply is checked against your model and serial number before we quote, and an equivalent part is named as one.
Viking, product by product
- Refrigerators: Built-in side-by-side and bottom-freezer units, panel-ready columns and some freestanding models. Grease-loaded condensers, fans, defrost faults, ice makers and door hinges are frequent work.
- Dishwashers: Stainless and panel-ready built-in dishwashers. Clogged filters, jammed drain pumps, scaled fill valves, overloaded door springs and door gasket leaks lead the list.
- Ovens: Single and double wall ovens and range ovens, many with TruConvec convection. Glow-bar igniters, safety valves, convection motors, sensors and door hinges fail most.
- Microwaves: Built-in, convection and drawer-style microwaves. Drawer drives, interlock switches, magnetrons, touch controls and trim kits are the usual concerns.
- Freezers: Freezer drawers and sections of built-in refrigerators and stand-alone freezer columns. Defrost heaters and thermostats, evaporator fans, slides and ice makers are common repairs.
- Cooktops: Sealed-burner gas rangetops and cooktops, some with a griddle or char-grill, plus electric and induction tops. Spark switches, electrodes, griddle thermostats and valves come up most.
- Wine Coolers: Undercounter wine and beverage centers and full-height wine columns. Blocked front grilles, fans, zone sensors, glass-door gaskets and hinges are the usual work.
- Stoves: Freestanding pro-style gas ranges from 30 to 60 inches wide. SureSpark switches, electrodes, caps and ports, oven igniters and stiff valves are the everyday repairs.
- Ranges: All-gas and dual-fuel ranges with convection and the Gourmet-Glo infrared broiler. Oven igniters, elements, broil burners, convection fans and door hinges head the list.
Getting Viking parts
Viking parts move through the maker's own distribution and through independent parts wholesalers. Because the brand has changed hands more than once, some older part numbers have been superseded, so every order starts from the model and serial number on the rating tag. Igniters, spark switches, electrodes, burner caps, hinges and door gaskets are usually available. Boards and certain valves for older equipment may involve a wait or have no replacement at all. Any equivalent part is identified to you before it is installed.

Viking Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Since February 2026, Viking has been part of Composition Brands, which is controlled by an affiliate of 26North, with Middleby keeping a minority stake. Middleby had owned Viking since 2013. The ownership doesn't change the repair itself, but it's why some part numbers have been superseded.
Turn everything off and give it time to dry, often a full day. Cleaning water that seeps behind the knobs wets the spark switches and makes them fire nonstop. If it's still clicking once completely dry, a switch or the spark module has failed and gets replaced.
Whether the problem is a wear part. Igniters, spark switches, valves, thermostats and hinges are all replaceable, and the steel body usually has decades left. The exception is an electronic control that's no longer made. We check that before quoting.
Pro-style ranges do run warm up front, but knobs that are hard to hold usually mean heat is escaping from the oven. Worn hinges or a flattened door gasket let the door sit slightly open, and the hot air rises past the control panel. We check the door fit and replace hinges or gasket as needed.
