Dacor Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos

Dacor appliances in local homes come from two different companies: the family-run California maker that built them for about fifty years, and Samsung, which has owned the brand since 2016. We repair both, and we are independent of Dacor and Samsung alike. If the maker's warranty still covers yours, Dacor is the first call. Past that, the honest answer rests on two things, what failed and whether its part is still made, and we check both before you commit to anything.

Condos & high-rises
Many buildings want a loading-dock slot, an elevator booking or a sign-in at the desk. Mention those rules at booking so the visit fits them.
Stacked laundry
Washer-dryer stacks in closets and hall nooks often have to come out of the space to be worked on. Measurements or a photo help us prepare.
Older houses
A new appliance in a house built decades ago can be let down by the outlet, gas line, drain or vent behind it. We test the supply as well as the machine.
Tenants & owners
A renter can book the visit. We report the fault and the quote to the owner or property manager, whose approval comes before any repair.
Humid summers & garages
Sticky summer air makes fridges sweat and front-loader gaskets smell, and a garage fridge can struggle in the heat. Some of that is upkeep, not a failed part.
A straight answer
If fixing an older unit makes little sense, you will hear that from us, along with which part gave out.

How a Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.

02

Find the Fault

At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.

03

Approve the Price

You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.

04

Fix and Check

The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

Dacor

Two companies behind one name

Dacor was founded in 1965 by Stanley Joseph and stayed in the Joseph family for three generations. It built its name on wall ovens with a four-part Pure Convection system (a fan, a convection element, a baffle and a filter) and on gas cooktops with lighted knobs. In 2013 it even sold the Discovery iQ wall oven, with a seven-inch touchscreen running Android as its control.

Samsung bought Dacor in 2016. Under Samsung the range grew to include column refrigeration, dishwashers and Wi-Fi controls built on Samsung engineering, while Dacor stayed the name on its luxury built-ins. The badge carried across, but most of the parts did not. Before quoting, we read the serial label to find out which era we're working on.

Dacor kitchens in Montgomery County

Dacor was a favorite for high-end remodels around the turn of the century, and plenty of those kitchens are still cooking in Potomac, Bethesda and Chevy Chase: a double Dacor wall oven stack, a 36-inch gas cooktop with glowing knobs, sometimes a Dacor range in a big island. Newer condos and custom homes are more likely to have the Samsung-era column refrigerators and wine units.

Built-ins are cut to their openings. Swapping a Dacor double oven for another brand can mean reworking cabinetry, which is often why repair wins even on an older unit.

The parts question, answered plainly

Older Dacor ovens rely on electronic controls, relay boards and a temperature probe, and the most expensive parts on them are the controls. Some of those boards, touch panels and trim pieces are discontinued. We test elements, fans, probes and wiring first, because replacing a board for a fault that isn't the board wastes your money.

For current models, parts come through Samsung's distribution and usually arrive without much trouble. For pre-2016 models, we tell you what's available as soon as we know, including when the answer is no.

Dacor, product by product

  • Refrigerators: Integrated column refrigerators and freezers and built-in French-door models, mostly Samsung-era. Thermistors, fans, ice makers, fill valves and frosted coils are the common work.
  • Dishwashers: Samsung-era 24-inch dishwashers in stainless or panel-ready form. Drain and wash pumps, leak sensors, hinge springs and fill problems are the usual calls.
  • Ovens: Single and double wall ovens with Pure Convection, plus combination speed and steam ovens. Convection fans and elements, probes, relay boards and door hinges wear most.
  • Microwaves: Built-in microwaves, speed ovens and microwave drawers. Drawer mechanisms, no-heat faults, interlock switches and control failures are the usual complaints.
  • Cooktops: Gas cooktops with lighted knobs and high-output burners, plus induction and radiant tops. Spark modules, reignition faults, knob lights and induction boards are frequent repairs.
  • Wine Coolers: Undercounter wine units and full-height wine columns with separate zones. Zone sensors, circulation fans, condenser grilles, gaskets and controls are the typical work.
  • Stoves: A Dacor range described the way its owner lives with it: a burner that refuses to light, an oven overshooting its setting, a frozen display or knob lights gone dark.
  • Ranges: Pro-style gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges from 30 to 48 inches, some with a griddle. Igniters, burner valves, convection parts, cooling fans and controls are common repairs.

Getting Dacor parts

Samsung-era Dacor parts ship through Samsung's parts network and are generally easy to get. Pre-2016 equipment is more uneven: wear items like igniters, heating elements and gaskets usually turn up, while some control boards, touch panels and cosmetic pieces are gone for good. We match each part to the model and serial, name any equivalent as one, and tell you early if the part you need has been discontinued.

FAQ

Dacor Repair Questions

The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.

Have a different question?

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.

Often. The mechanical and heating parts, meaning elements, igniters, fans, probes and hinges, tend to stay in supply longer than the electronics. It's the boards and touchscreens that sometimes can't be had. We diagnose first and confirm the part exists before you approve anything.

The model and serial number on the rating label tell us. As a rough guide, Dacor refrigerators and dishwashers you see today are mostly Samsung-era, while many wall ovens and gas cooktops in older remodels predate 2016. Send a photo of the label when you book.

While the maker's warranty is active, go through Dacor so the work is covered. Once it has expired, the choice is yours. We're independent, test the appliance in your kitchen and give you a price before any work starts.
