Perlick Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
Perlick units are trimmed in under a counter, frequently behind a matching panel, and nobody wants to rip one out to find a bad fan. We work on them independently of Perlick, so while the maker's warranty is running, Perlick is the one to call. Once coverage has lapsed, we diagnose it where it sits, tell you what's wrong and what the fix costs, and only then start.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

Tavern equipment, scaled for the home
Robert Perlick started a brass works in Milwaukee in 1917, and the company is still family-run there. Its reputation comes largely from commercial bars: draft beer systems, underbar coolers and the stainless back-bar equipment behind many a counter. For homes it builds the same way at a smaller scale. The lineup covers undercounter fridges and freezers, refrigerated drawers, beverage and beer units, wine storage and clear-ice machines, with outdoor-rated versions of most.
Locally we find Perlick under the bar in finished basements, in the islands of big Potomac kitchens, in rebuilt Bethesda and Chevy Chase homes with a butler's pantry, and on patios where someone built an outdoor kitchen.
Everything happens at the front grille
A unit built in tight under a counter has no room to vent at the back or sides. Air enters and leaves through the louvers along its base, and that opening is effectively its lungs. Lint, pet hair, a doormat edge or a toe board installed too tight will make the compressor run long and the cabinet drift warm, and a lot of Perlick calls begin and end there.
Other common threads are door gaskets, hinges carrying heavy panel-ready doors, fans, and on ice makers the plumbing in and out. Most of that work happens with the unit still in its opening, so the cabinetry stays untouched.
Outdoor Perlicks in a Maryland year
Outdoor-rated units are built for weather, but Maryland gives them both extremes: humid summer heat that makes the compressor work hard, and winter nights well below freezing. Anything holding water, like an ice maker or a beer line, is at risk in a freeze. Perlick's manual for each outdoor model states the temperatures it's built to run in and what to do before cold weather, and it's worth reading in the fall. A frozen water line or drain is a different repair from a failed part, and we check for it first.
Perlick, product by product
- Refrigerators: Indoor and outdoor undercounter fridges, refrigerated and freezer drawers and beverage centers. Choked base louvers, fans, gaskets, drooping panel doors and sticky slides are the usual calls.
- Ice Makers: Undercounter clear-ice makers with gravity or pumped drains. No ice, slow production, scale, drain pump failures and frozen lines on outdoor units are the common complaints.
- Wine Coolers: Single- and dual-zone wine reserves, most with glass doors. One zone drifting, noisy fans, fogged glass and tired door seals are what we usually find.
Getting Perlick parts
Residential Perlick parts are sold by the company directly and by a few appliance parts houses, and many older models are still supported. Gaskets, hinges, fans and sensors can usually be matched by model and serial number. Boards and sealed-system parts need more checking. We confirm fit from the serial tag and give you the likely wait before you agree to the repair.

Perlick Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
For most repairs, yes. Fans, gaskets, controls, hinges and many sensors are reached from the front. A sealed-system repair or a leak behind the unit may mean sliding it out, and we'll discuss that with you first.
Look at the grille at the bottom front. It's where the unit takes in and releases air, and if it's clogged with lint or blocked, the refrigerator can't get rid of heat. If it's clear, a fan, a sensor or a leaking door seal are the next suspects.
Same company, similar build philosophy, different product line. The residential units have their own model numbers and parts, so we order from the tag on your unit rather than from the commercial catalog.
It depends on the model and where it's installed. The manual gives the rated temperature range and cold-weather instructions. Ice makers and anything connected to a water line are the most vulnerable, and they often need draining before a hard freeze.
