Bertazzoni Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
A Bertazzoni range is put together differently from an American one, with a safety thermocouple on every burner and a European multifunction oven, and it rewards a technician who knows that. We repair Bertazzoni independently; we are not part of the company's service network. If yours is still covered by Bertazzoni's warranty, contact Bertazzoni first. Past that, we diagnose it in your kitchen, explain which part has failed and quote the repair for your approval. Because the typical fault is one replaceable part, a range in good overall shape is generally worth keeping.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

Six generations of stove makers
Francesco Bertazzoni founded the business in 1882 in Guastalla, in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, and the family still runs it. The company made wood-burning stoves for decades, started building gas cookers in the 1950s, and today sells freestanding ranges in North America in the Professional, Master and Heritage series, from 24 to 48 inches wide, in gas, dual-fuel, electric and induction.
Wall ovens, cooktops, hoods, refrigerators and dishwashers came later, so a buyer could finish a kitchen in one style. Those non-cooking products are designed to match the ranges, but inside they resemble other European built-ins more than they resemble Bertazzoni's own burners and ovens.
The kitchens that choose a Bertazzoni
Bertazzoni tends to be the pick of someone who cooks seriously and wants color or Italian styling without a 48-inch commercial look. We find them in renovated kitchens in older Chevy Chase and Bethesda houses, where a 30- or 36-inch range fits a modest footprint, and in larger Potomac kitchens alongside a separate wall oven.
Condo buyers downtown sometimes choose the induction models when the building has no gas service to the unit. In a house, a dual-fuel range needs both a gas supply, typically Washington Gas, and a 240-volt circuit, and remodels occasionally reuse an old shutoff valve or a worn flexible connector that deserves replacing.
Flame safety and multifunction ovens
Beside every Bertazzoni gas burner stands a thermocouple, a thin metal probe that sits in the flame. Heat makes it generate a few millivolts, and that tiny current holds an electromagnet in the burner valve open. Lose the flame and the probe cools within seconds, the magnet lets go, and gas stops flowing. That explains the few seconds of pressing and holding after each burner lights, and it explains the most common complaint: a burner that catches, then dies when the knob is released. That's almost always the probe or the valve magnet, not the gas line.
The electric ovens are European multifunction designs: a lower element, an upper element, a rear fan and often a ring element around it, switched in different combinations for each mode. A fault that shows in one mode only points to the element or switch contact serving that mode.
Getting parts from Italy
Igniters, thermocouples, knobs, elements and gaskets for current series are usually easy to source through Bertazzoni's North American parts channel. A particular door glass, a colored enamel panel or parts for an older series can take noticeably longer. We read the serial label, confirm the exact part and give you the expected wait before ordering.
Bertazzoni, product by product
- Refrigerators: Column-style built-in refrigerators and freezers and freestanding French-door models styled to match the ranges. Temperature sensors, fans, ice makers, gaskets and defrost faults are the usual repairs.
- Dishwashers: 24-inch Bertazzoni dishwashers, stainless or panel-ready. Pump faults, fill valves, door hinge springs and leaks that trip the base float switch are common calls.
- Ovens: Bertazzoni built-in wall ovens, single or double, plus range ovens. Convection fans, ring and bake elements, temperature sensors, mode selectors and door hinges wear first.
- Cooktops: Gas cooktops built around a dual-ring power burner with flame-safety valves, plus induction models. Burners that won't stay lit, constant sparking, poor simmer and induction faults are typical.
- Stoves: A Bertazzoni as it is lived with daily: a burner that dies when the knob is released, an igniter that keeps ticking, an oven that is slow to come up to heat.
- Ranges: Bertazzoni ranges in every fuel type, two feet to four feet wide, some with a second oven. Thermocouples, igniters, oven elements, convection fans and gas oven valves are routine work.
Getting Bertazzoni parts
Bertazzoni supplies North American repairers through its own parts distribution. For current series, thermocouples, spark electrodes, burner caps, knobs, oven elements and fan motors are generally obtainable. Glass, colored enamel and trim, and anything for a series no longer sold, may take weeks, as some items come over from Italy. We check the serial label at the diagnosis, confirm the exact part number, and tell you if an equivalent is used in place of the original.

Bertazzoni Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Usually two pins sit there: the spark electrode, which lights the gas, and the thermocouple, which confirms the flame and keeps the valve open. Keep both clean and don't bend them away from the flame when you clean the burners.
No. The burners, valves and oven components are the same across finishes. Only the enamel panels, doors and trim are finish-specific, and those can take longer to source.
When the oven cavity has rusted through, the enamel inside is badly cracked, or a critical part for a discontinued series is no longer available. Short of that, most faults are single parts and the range is usually worth repairing.
