La Cornue Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
A La Cornue range is usually the centerpiece of the room, and it is built to be fixed rather than replaced. We are independent: not connected to La Cornue, its US distributor or its authorized service network. A range still inside the manufacturer's warranty should be reported to La Cornue first. Once it's past that, we come to your kitchen, find the fault, walk you through it and quote the repair, and nothing is ordered until you approve it.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

La Cornue Appliances We Repair
More than a century of French ranges
Albert Dupuy founded La Cornue near Paris in 1908, and the company became known for its vaulted oven, whose rounded ceiling circulates heat around the food much as a bread oven does. Château ranges are still assembled mostly by hand in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, France, each one to a specific order, in the buyer's choice of enamel color and metal finish. The CornuFé range is the brand's off-the-shelf alternative, offered in set sizes and a shorter list of options.
Ownership has changed hands a few times. La Cornue became part of Middleby's residential kitchen group when Middleby acquired AGA Rangemaster in 2015. In early 2026 that group was spun into a new company, Composition Brands, with the investment firm 26North holding a majority and Middleby keeping a large minority stake.
The kitchens they anchor
We don't meet many of these ranges, and when we do the kitchen was usually designed around the range: a big Potomac house with a hood custom-built to frame it, or one of the larger new homes in Bethesda or Chevy Chase where the range was ordered months before the cabinets went in.
A Château is extremely heavy and is often set against a tile or stone backsplash under a hood built to its dimensions. Sliding one out is a planned job with several people and floor protection, so we do everything we can from the front and top.
Parts, timing and the case for repair
For a Château, repair is nearly always the sensible choice. Replacing it means ordering a new range that is built after the order is placed, then shipped from France, and the kitchen is usually built around its exact size. Wear parts like flame-safety probes, igniters, knobs, thermostats and door seals are reasonably easy to obtain; unusual trim or a component specific to one configuration can take much longer.
CornuFé ranges are closer to a conventional appliance, so the numbers deserve a closer look. We give you the part lead time and the repair price together so you can decide with both in hand.
La Cornue, product by product
- Ovens: Vaulted gas and electric ovens on Château and CornuFé ranges. Burners that go out, thermostats running off, thermocouples, igniters, elements, door gaskets and heavy door hinges.
- Cooktops: Rangetops and the cooktop section of La Cornue ranges, including the French top. Flame safety thermocouples, spark ignition, stiff valves and fouled burner ports.
- Stoves: La Cornue stoves are freestanding Château or CornuFé ranges. Burners that won't stay lit, oven thermostats, ignition and worn door hardware are what we see most.
- Ranges: Château and CornuFé ranges, all-gas, all-electric or with an electric oven under gas burners. Flame safety, ignition, oven thermostats, electric elements and door hinges fail most.
Getting La Cornue parts
The brand's US distributor supplies La Cornue parts, and a good share of them come over from France. The routine orders, like thermocouples, igniters, knobs, thermostats and door seals, arrive fastest. Trim, and anything tied to one particular custom layout, can take weeks. Everything is matched to the range's model and serial number, and you know the likely wait before you say yes to the repair.

La Cornue Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Since early 2026 it belongs to Composition Brands, the company created when 26North took majority control of Middleby's residential kitchen business, with Middleby retaining a minority share. The Château ranges are still made in France.
Many La Cornue burners carry a thermocouple, a small safety probe that sits in the flame. Pressing the knob holds the gas open by hand until the probe is hot enough to hold it open by itself, usually several seconds. If the flame still dies when you release after a proper wait, the probe is likely weak, dirty or bent out of the flame.
In almost every case, especially a Château. The body and oven are built to last decades, and most failures are replaceable components. The main question is how long a part will take to arrive, and we answer that before you commit.
