Hotpoint Appliance Repair in Maryland
No-nonsense repair for Hotpoint, the entry-level GE Appliances brand you find in apartments, rental houses, first homes and basement laundry rooms.

First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
Hotpoint Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
Hotpoint is simple equipment, and it deserves a simple, honest repair. We are not a GE Appliances service provider; we are an independent company, so a Hotpoint still under warranty should go back to GE Appliances. Out of warranty, we come to the home, find the failed part, and give you a price along with a straight opinion on whether it's worth paying compared with a new unit.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

Two companies, one name
In the United States, Hotpoint belongs to GE Appliances, which Haier has owned since 2016. It is GE's budget line: top-freezer refrigerators, coil and smooth-top electric ranges, gas ranges with plain knobs, top-load washers, dryers, basic dishwashers and microwaves. The Hotpoint sold in Britain and Europe is a different business owned by Whirlpool, and its manuals and parts have nothing to do with the American machines.
That distinction trips people up online. A search for a Hotpoint part can easily turn up a European listing that looks right and doesn't fit. We order from the model and serial number on your appliance only.
Why landlords like it, and what that means for repairs
Hotpoint is built to be cheap to buy and hard to misuse, which is why it is common in garden apartments, rental houses and student places around College Park and Hyattsville, and in first homes in Wheaton and Silver Spring. Controls are knobs and dials, not menus, and there are fewer parts to fail.
The downside is that a new one is inexpensive, so a repair has to earn its place. An igniter, a belt, a pump, a switch, a thermostat, an element, a gasket or a defrost part nearly always does. A refrigerant leak, a washer transmission, or a unit that has failed in three places usually doesn't. We say which side of that line your fault falls on before ordering anything.
Rentals and access
When a tenant calls about a Hotpoint in a rental, we still need a yes from whoever pays. We can send the diagnosis and the price to the owner or manager first, then schedule the repair once it's approved. In apartment buildings, tell us about any building sign-in or service-entrance rules when you book.
Hotpoint, product by product
- Refrigerators: Top-freezer refrigerators, often with no ice maker. Typical work: defrost heater and thermostat, the two fans, the compressor relay and the door seal.
- Washers: GE-platform top-load washers with simple dials. The lid lock, drain pump, shifter, suspension rods and fill valve are where most faults turn up.
- Dryers: Gas and electric dryers with a basic timer. Thermal fuses, heating elements, gas igniters and valve coils, belts, drum rollers and idler pulleys are the usual work.
- Dishwashers: Basic built-in dishwashers, a rental staple. We fix drain pumps, fill valves, door latch switches, heating elements and control faults.
- Ovens: Nearly always the oven of a Hotpoint range. Bake elements, gas igniters, temperature sensors, selector switches, thermostats and worn door hinges are common repairs.
- Microwaves: Over-the-range and countertop models. Door switches, fuses, magnetrons, high-voltage diodes and vent fan motors are the common repairs.
- Freezers: Chest and upright freezers kept in basements and garages. Thermostats, lid and door gaskets, start relays, dusty condensers and, on frost-free uprights, defrost parts.
- Cooktops: Built-in Hotpoint cooktops are rare. The occasional one we meet needs the same parts as a Hotpoint range top: elements, terminal blocks and burner switches.
- Stoves: Freestanding coil-electric and gas stoves with knobs. Most visits involve a dead coil, a burned receptacle, a burner switch, an oven igniter or a bake element.
- Ranges: Standard freestanding ranges, including smooth-top electrics. Radiant elements, surface switches, oven sensors, basic clock controls and gas igniters are what usually fail.
Getting Hotpoint parts
American Hotpoint parts come through GE Appliances' parts system and the distributors that carry GE components, and a large share are identical to GE parts. Common wear parts are usually still sold even for older units. Parts listed online for the European Hotpoint are a different company's and will not fit, so we match everything to your model and serial number before ordering.

Hotpoint Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
In the US, yes. Hotpoint is a GE Appliances brand, GE Appliances is owned by Haier, and the machines share GE engineering and many parts. The Hotpoint name in Europe belongs to Whirlpool and makes different products.
Check whether it's listed for the European Hotpoint, which is a separate company with different machines. Many cheap listings are. Match the part to your model number on the GE Appliances parts system, or send us the label and we'll confirm.
Usually when the fault is the sealed system on a refrigerator, a washer transmission, or when an older unit has more than one major failure. For a single part like an igniter, pump, belt or thermostat, repair almost always costs less than buying, delivering and installing a new one.
