U-Line Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
U-Line units tend to live out of sight, under a wet bar or at the end of an island, and they get noticed only when the drinks come out warm or the ice bin sits empty. We repair them independently, with no factory service agreement with U-Line or Middleby. If yours is still under U-Line's warranty, claim it through the maker first. After that, we diagnose the unit in its cabinet, tell you what failed, and wait for your yes on the price before any work.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

The company that built the home ice maker
Henry Uihlein founded U-Line in Milwaukee in 1962, and the company is credited with the first automatic undercounter ice maker for homes. It stayed focused on compact built-in refrigeration and ice, and in 2014 it was acquired by the Middleby Corporation, the food equipment group that also owns Viking. U-Line is still based in Milwaukee.
The range is deliberately narrow: compact refrigerators and freezers, drawer models, beverage centers, wine refrigerators and clear-ice machines, with outdoor-rated versions of several.
Basement bars, islands and outdoor kitchens
In this area, U-Line units are a common part of finished-basement bars in Potomac and Bethesda, of kitchen islands in the newer houses that replaced older ones around Chevy Chase, and of outdoor kitchens on larger lots. Condo owners sometimes add a U-Line wine unit or drawer to a renovated kitchen.
Each of those spots has its own stress. Basements are humid in summer, which fogs glass doors and loads up drain lines. Islands trap heat when the front grille is blocked. Outdoor units face freezing winter nights, so the manual's cold-weather instructions matter, especially for anything connected to a water line.
What goes wrong in a small built-in cabinet
A U-Line has no space at its sides or back to shed heat, so it breathes entirely through the grille at the bottom front. Dust, pet hair or a rug there is the simplest way to make one run warm. Beyond airflow, calls tend to involve fans, temperature sensors and controls, door hinges and gaskets on heavily used doors, and, on the clear-ice machines, mineral scale and drainage.
U-Line, product by product
- Refrigerators: U-Line undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator drawers and beverage centers, indoor and outdoor. Warm cabinets from blocked airflow, stopped fans, control faults, sagging doors and tired gaskets are frequent calls.
- Ice Makers: U-Line clear-ice machines, gravity-drain or pump-drain. No ice, thin or slow cubes, scale on the freezing plate and drain pump failures are the usual complaints.
- Wine Coolers: U-Line wine refrigerators, single- and dual-zone. A zone drifting warm, a quiet fan, fogged glass and worn door seals are what owners usually notice.
Getting U-Line parts
You can get U-Line parts from the brand itself and from appliance parts distributors, and Middleby's ownership has kept the product line supported. Fans, sensors, gaskets, hinges, drain pumps and inlet valves can usually be ordered against your model and serial number, though older control boards can be harder to find. The part is confirmed at the visit, and you'll know roughly how long it takes to arrive.

Yes. U-Line has been owned by the Middleby Corporation since 2014 and remains based in Milwaukee. The brand still supports its units with parts, so an older U-Line can usually be kept running.
On most U-Line units it's inside the cabinet, often on a side wall near the top or on the ceiling of the interior; on drawers, look inside the drawer frame. A clear photo of that label when you book lets us check parts ahead of time.
Rarely. U-Line units are built to slide out of their opening, and many repairs are done from the front with the unit in place. If a sealed-system repair or a drain issue needs it pulled, we explain why first.
