Sharp Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
Most Sharp calls we get are about the microwave drawer, a product Sharp popularized and still builds in the United States. We have no connection to Sharp's own service arrangements, and a Sharp still covered by its original warranty should go back to Sharp for that repair. Past that, we test it at your home, explain which part has failed and give you a price, and nothing is replaced until you've agreed to it.
How a Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

Sharp Appliances We Repair
Japanese brand, Tennessee-built drawers
Sharp Corporation is a Japanese electronics company. Since 2016 the controlling shareholder has been the Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn (formally Hon Hai Precision Industry). Microwaves have been one of Sharp's best-known kitchen products for a long time.
Its US manufacturing arm, Sharp Manufacturing Company of America, has made microwaves in Memphis, Tennessee, since 1979, and began producing the built-in microwave drawer there in 2005. Sharp has since added refrigerators, wall ovens and other built-in products to its North American range.
Drawers in islands, hoods in condos
A microwave drawer tucked into an island or under a counter is a common choice in kitchen remodels, from updated Silver Spring split-levels to larger Bethesda and Potomac kitchens where the wall space went to ovens. Over-the-range Sharp models turn up in condos and townhouses, where the microwave doubles as the range hood. Sharp refrigerators are less common, mostly in newer or recently renovated kitchens.
What makes a drawer different
A conventional microwave has a hinged door and a latch. A drawer has a motor that pushes it out and pulls it back, a track, and sensors that tell the control where the drawer is and whether it has fully closed. It won't heat until the control is satisfied the drawer is shut. That adds a whole category of faults that has nothing to do with cooking, so when a drawer misbehaves we test the mechanism and the position sensing along with the heating side. Every microwave keeps a charge in its high-voltage capacitor after being unplugged, which is one more reason these repairs belong with a technician.
Sharp, product by product
- Refrigerators: French door and four-door Sharp refrigerators with bottom freezers. We see upper sections running warm, ice makers that stop filling, water pooling under crispers and control faults.
- Microwaves: Microwave drawers, built-in, over-the-range and countertop models. Drawers that stall or won't close, no heat, blown fuses, failed door switches and dead keypads.
Getting Sharp parts
Parts for Sharp microwaves, including drawer motors, gears, switches and sensors, are available through Sharp's parts network and appliance parts distributors. Refrigerator parts are stocked less widely, since the line is newer here. We match the part to your model and serial number, and the wait time is on the quote along with the price.

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Usually. A drawer model costs considerably more than a countertop microwave and fits a specific cabinet opening, and its common failures, such as the drawer motor, gears, sensors, switches and high-voltage parts, are all replaceable. We diagnose which one failed and quote the repair.
Sharp assembles its microwave drawers at its plant in Memphis, Tennessee, run by Sharp Manufacturing Company of America. The parent, Sharp Corporation, is Japanese and controlled by Foxconn.
Yes. A few refrigerator parts are harder to find than their equivalents for the larger brands, so part of our diagnosis is confirming the part can be had, and how soon, before you decide.
