How Perlick builds its refrigerators
Perlick's undercounter refrigerators, beverage centers and drawers all move condenser air through the kickplate grille. That puts the condenser fan and a clean coil at the center of most warm-cabinet calls, so airflow at the front is the first thing we check, followed by the evaporator fan, the sensor and the control. Drawer models wear in their own places: slides that start to bind under a load of bottles, and gaskets that lose their seal after years of being bumped shut with a knee. Panel-ready doors are heavy, and a hinge that sags lets the door rest just open enough to frost the coil. In a humid basement bar, that happens faster. Nearly all of this is repaired from the front, with the unit left in place.

Humid air getting in. A worn gasket, a sagging door or a drawer left slightly open are the usual reasons, and a damp basement makes it worse. We check the seal and hinge, then make sure the unit's defrost is working.
