Amana refrigerator repair
Amana Refrigerator Repair in Maryland
We repair Amana refrigerators at homes and businesses in Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Top-freezer, bottom-freezer and side-by-side refrigerators on Whirlpool platforms. We usually replace defrost parts, evaporator fans, compressor start relays, ice makers and door gaskets.
Booking online works too. With the Amana refrigerator's model number in the form, we can check part availability before we come.
First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
Amana Refrigerator Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
We are independent: not a Amana service center, and not authorized by Amana. If your refrigerator is still inside the Amana warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.
How a Refrigerator Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
What's inside an Amana refrigerator
Amana refrigerators are basic Whirlpool-platform units, usually a top-freezer, a bottom-freezer or a side-by-side, and many have no ice maker at all. Most of the complaints are about a warm fresh-food section with a cold freezer. That points to an iced-over evaporator after the defrost heater or its thermostat fails, or to an evaporator fan that has stopped. When the compressor clicks on and off and never runs, the start relay is the likely part, and it is inexpensive. A torn door gasket lets in warm, humid air, which forms frost and makes the unit run longer. Side-by-side models add a water valve that can leak. Many of these fridges end up in a garage or basement as the second fridge; there, dust on the condenser coils is more of a problem than in a kitchen.
Parts that tend to fail on Amana refrigerators
- Evaporator iced after a defrost failure
- Evaporator fan not turning
- Start relay clicking, compressor idle
- Torn door gasket letting in humid air
- Water valve leaking on side-by-side

Amana Refrigerator Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Usually the start relay on the compressor is failing, which is a cheap part. Occasionally the compressor itself won't start. We test both and quote the relay if that's the fault, or tell you honestly if the compressor has failed.
For a defrost part, a fan, a relay or a gasket, usually yes. For a compressor or refrigerant leak on an older unit, usually no. Check that the garage stays within the temperature range in the manual, since extremes affect any fridge.
