GE Appliances microwave repair
GE Appliances Microwave Repair in Maryland
We repair GE Appliances microwaves at homes and businesses in Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Over-the-range and countertop GE microwaves, including Advantium units. No heat, door switch failures, vent fans, keypads and turntables are the common faults.
Booking online works too. With the GE Appliances microwave's model number in the form, we can check part availability before we come.
First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
GE Appliances Microwave Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
We are independent: not a GE Appliances service center, and not authorized by GE Appliances. If your microwave is still inside the GE Appliances warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.
How a Microwave Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
How GE Appliances builds its microwaves
In most local kitchens a GE microwave hangs over the range and doubles as its exhaust hood. That means two appliances share one box: the cooking side, with its high-voltage transformer, capacitor, diode and magnetron, and the hood side, with a blower, cooktop lights and metal filters that should be washed regularly. A unit that hums and turns the plate but leaves coffee cold has lost something in the high-voltage chain. A unit that goes dark after the door is slammed has probably blown its fuse through a failing interlock switch. Advantium speed-cook models add halogen lamps and convection to the mix, which lengthens both the parts list and the diagnosis. The capacitor can hold a dangerous charge long after unplugging, so leave the cover on. Removing an over-the-range unit takes two people and access to the bolts inside the upper cabinet.
Parts that tend to fail on GE Appliances microwaves
- Magnetron burned out, no heat
- Door switch failure blowing the fuse
- Vent fan bearing noisy or seized
- Touch pad not registering presses
- Advantium halogen lamp burned out
Faults that show up whatever the brand are explained in our microwave repair overview.

GE Appliances Microwave Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Something in the high-voltage chain has failed: the magnetron, the diode, the capacitor, the transformer or a thermal cutout. After safely discharging the capacitor, we test each one and quote only the part that tested bad.
Yes. The halogen lamps are replaceable parts. If the lamps are good, the problem may be a relay or the control, which we test before recommending anything.
