DCS Range Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos

We are independent: not a DCS service center, and not authorized by DCS. If your range is still inside the DCS warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.

Condos & high-rises
Many buildings want a loading-dock slot, an elevator booking or a sign-in at the desk. Mention those rules at booking so the visit fits them.
Stacked laundry
Washer-dryer stacks in closets and hall nooks often have to come out of the space to be worked on. Measurements or a photo help us prepare.
Older houses
A new appliance in a house built decades ago can be let down by the outlet, gas line, drain or vent behind it. We test the supply as well as the machine.
Tenants & owners
A renter can book the visit. We report the fault and the quote to the owner or property manager, whose approval comes before any repair.
Humid summers & garages
Sticky summer air makes fridges sweat and front-loader gaskets smell, and a garage fridge can struggle in the heat. Some of that is upkeep, not a failed part.
A straight answer
If fixing an older unit makes little sense, you will hear that from us, along with which part gave out.

How a Range Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.

02

Find the Fault

At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.

03

Approve the Price

You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.

04

Fix and Check

The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

How DCS builds its ranges

Before diagnosing a DCS range, we need to know how it was built, because the same symptom means different things. Some are all-gas: burners on top and a gas oven below, each oven with its own igniter and safety valve. Others are dual-fuel: gas on top, but electric ovens run by elements, a fan and a control board, which makes a cold oven an electrical fault. The 48-inch models may add a second oven, a grill or a griddle, each with its own parts. There's also the supply to consider. These burners are hungry, and if the flames droop when four or five are going at once, the gas line or regulator may be too small for the load rather than anything wrong in the range.

Parts that tend to fail on DCS ranges

  • Oven igniter or bake element failed
  • Reignition sparking continuously
  • Flames sagging with several burners on
  • Convection fan motor fault
  • Oven control or sensor failure

If your symptom isn't listed, the range symptoms and causes page goes wider.

FAQ

DCS Range Repair Questions

The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.

Have a different question?

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.

Check the rating label for the model number, which tells us definitively. You can also look inside the oven: an exposed heating coil across the ceiling, usually with a fan in the rear wall, means electric, while a burner under the floor panel means gas. Include the model number in your booking.

Not necessarily. Large burners draw a lot of gas together, and an undersized line or a failing regulator shows up only when several run at once. The burners and orifices are checked first. If the supply turns out to be the limit, that's a job for a plumber or Washington Gas, and you get a clear explanation of what we found.
