Speed Queen Dryer Repair in Maryland

We repair Speed Queen dryers at homes and businesses in Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Gas and electric dryers built around a heavy steel drum. No heat from a fuse, element or igniter, broken belts, worn drum supports and door switch faults are the usual calls.

Speed Queen Dryer Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos

We are independent: not a Speed Queen service center, and not authorized by Speed Queen. If your dryer is still inside the Speed Queen warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.

Condos & high-rises
Many buildings want a loading-dock slot, an elevator booking or a sign-in at the desk. Mention those rules at booking so the visit fits them.
Stacked laundry
Washer-dryer stacks in closets and hall nooks often have to come out of the space to be worked on. Measurements or a photo help us prepare.
Older houses
A new appliance in a house built decades ago can be let down by the outlet, gas line, drain or vent behind it. We test the supply as well as the machine.
Tenants & owners
A renter can book the visit. We report the fault and the quote to the owner or property manager, whose approval comes before any repair.
Humid summers & garages
Sticky summer air makes fridges sweat and front-loader gaskets smell, and a garage fridge can struggle in the heat. Some of that is upkeep, not a failed part.
A straight answer
If fixing an older unit makes little sense, you will hear that from us, along with which part gave out.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.

02

Find the Fault

At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.

03

Approve the Price

You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.

04

Fix and Check

The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

How Speed Queen builds its dryers

Speed Queen dryers are simple and heavy: a steel drum turned by a belt, and either an electric element or a gas burner fed by Washington Gas. When one runs but won't heat, we look at the vent before any part, because a restricted exhaust overheats the dryer and opens a thermal fuse or a high-limit thermostat. On electric models the element and the cycling thermostat come next. On gas models it's the igniter, the flame sensor and the valve coils. Rumbling and squealing usually mean worn drum supports or an idler pulley. Basement dryers in older Silver Spring and Hyattsville houses often vent through long runs with several bends, or through a crushed foil duct behind the machine, and we'll point that out if we find it.

Parts that tend to fail on Speed Queen dryers

  • Thermal fuse opened by a blocked vent
  • Electric element burned through
  • Gas igniter or valve coils failing
  • Drive belt snapped
  • Door switch not sensing a closed door

Checks you can safely make before booking are on the dryer repair page for all brands.

FAQ

Speed Queen Dryer Repair Questions

The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.

Have a different question?

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.

Look at the vent hood outside while it runs. Weak airflow means lint or a crushed duct, which trips the safety parts. For electric models, confirm both breakers of the double breaker are on. If airflow is good, we test the fuse, thermostats and heat source.

Usually it's airflow, not the dryer. A long vent run, lint buildup or a crushed flexible duct holds in moist air. We check airflow at the machine and the vent, then test the heating side if the vent is clear.
