What's inside an Admiral dryer
Admiral's dryers are Whirlpool's 29-inch dryer under another name, and few machines are easier to troubleshoot. A blower wheel at the front pulls air past the heater, through the tumbling clothes and out the back. A small thermal fuse on that exhaust path is the dryer's safety valve: let lint pile up in the duct and the exhaust runs hot, the fuse gives up, and the drum keeps turning with no heat at all. On electric dryers the heater is a coil of resistance wire watched over by two thermostats. On gas dryers, a glowing igniter lights the burner, a sensor confirms it, and two coils hold the gas valve open. When those coils weaken, the dryer lights once and then won't relight after cycling off. A squeal is usually the idler pulley, a rumble the rear drum rollers. In older houses with basement laundry, check that the vent is rigid or semi-rigid metal and that the hood outside opens freely.
Parts that tend to fail on Admiral dryers
- Thermal fuse on the blower housing opened
- Element coil broken, electric model cold
- Gas coils too weak to relight the burner
- Idler pulley squealing at start
- Rear drum rollers worn flat and rumbling

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
That pattern classically points to weak gas valve coils. The burner lights once, cycles off on its thermostat, and the coils can't reopen the valve when they warm up. We confirm by watching the ignition sequence before replacing them.
Flexible vinyl or foil vent hose is not recommended for dryers; lint collects in the ridges and it can sag or crush. Most dryer manuals call for rigid or semi-rigid metal duct. Switching reduces drying time and strain on the thermal fuse.
