Dryer repair in Mount Rainier & Brentwood

Basement dryers in these houses vent through a hole cut in brick, block or stone, often only a short distance above the soil, where leaves and snow can bury the outside hood. Some still use old foil or plastic flex duct snaking behind the machine. Gas dryers are common because many of these houses already have a gas line in the basement for the furnace or water heater, while the apartments lean toward electric or stacked units.

Working from airflow to heat source

We disconnect the duct and run the dryer to see whether it heats with no restriction at all. If drying improves immediately, the vent is the problem and we show you where it is blocked or crushed. If the dryer still produces no heat, we test the thermal fuse and the high-limit thermostat, because a blown fuse usually signals poor airflow somewhere. On a gas dryer we watch the igniter glow and check whether the flame lights and holds; an igniter that glows without a flame points to the gas valve coils. On an electric model we measure the heating element and confirm both legs of the 240-volt supply. Squealing or thumping leads to the drum rollers, idler pulley and belt.

Checking the outside hood yourself

Walk around the house while the dryer runs and find where the vent comes out. You should feel a strong, warm stream of air, and the flap should open fully. If the hood is behind a shrub, under a porch or half buried in leaves, clearing it is the cheapest fix there is. If you feel little or nothing, mention that when you book.

Dryer Repair Questions

The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.

Have a different question?

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.

A thermal fuse is a one-time safety device that opens when the exhaust gets too hot. Replacing it without fixing the cause just means another blown fuse. The usual cause is restricted airflow: a lint-packed vent, a crushed duct behind the dryer, or a blocked outside hood. Less often, a cycling thermostat sticks closed. We test both before fitting a new fuse.

Dryer Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos

A dryer in an old Mount Rainier or Brentwood basement usually pushes its exhaust out through a foundation wall near the ground, and a crushed or clogged run there is behind many no-heat and slow-dry complaints.

Condos & high-rises
Many buildings want a loading-dock slot, an elevator booking or a sign-in at the desk. Mention those rules at booking so the visit fits them.
Stacked laundry
Washer-dryer stacks in closets and hall nooks often have to come out of the space to be worked on. Measurements or a photo help us prepare.
Older houses
A new appliance in a house built decades ago can be let down by the outlet, gas line, drain or vent behind it. We test the supply as well as the machine.
Tenants & owners
A renter can book the visit. We report the fault and the quote to the owner or property manager, whose approval comes before any repair.
Humid summers & garages
Sticky summer air makes fridges sweat and front-loader gaskets smell, and a garage fridge can struggle in the heat. Some of that is upkeep, not a failed part.
A straight answer
If fixing an older unit makes little sense, you will hear that from us, along with which part gave out.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.

02

Find the Fault

At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.

03

Approve the Price

You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.

04

Fix and Check

The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
