Dryer repair in Bowie
Gas and electric dryers both turn up across these two ZIPs, with gas available where a main reaches the street. The original Belair houses usually vent the dryer through a nearby exterior wall in a few feet. Later subdivisions moved laundry upstairs or to an interior closet, and the duct may travel along a joist bay, through an attic or up to a roof cap. Townhouse dryers in the middle of a row have the longest and least accessible runs.
From airflow to heat source: diagnosing a slow dryer
Because restricted airflow sits behind so many heating complaints, we measure it before anything else, at the drum outlet and again at the outside termination. Lint in the duct, a crushed transition hose behind the machine or a stuck exterior flap will make a dryer overheat and cycle its high-limit thermostat, which looks like a heating failure. Once airflow is confirmed, we test the thermal fuse, cycling and high-limit thermostats, and then the heat source: the element on an electric model, or the igniter, flame sensor and gas valve coils on a gas model. Squeals and thumps are traced to the idler pulley, drum rollers, glides or belt.
Roof caps and joist runs in newer Bowie houses
If your dryer vents through the roof, the cap can collect lint and nesting material where you cannot see it. A bird-guard screen on any termination acts as a second lint trap and should be swapped for an open hood with a flap. Townhouse owners should ask their association who services shared roof vents.

Dryer Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Watch the burner through the small window if your model has one. If the igniter glows and then goes dark without a flame, the gas valve coils are the usual suspect. If it never glows, the igniter, flame sensor, thermal fuse or a thermostat may be open. We test each part with a meter before replacing anything.

How a Dryer Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
