Sub-Zero freezer repair
Sub-Zero Freezer Repair in Maryland
We repair Sub-Zero freezers at homes and businesses in Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Freezer columns and drawers and the bottom half of over-and-under units. Defrost circuits, evaporator fans, heavy-duty slides and built-in ice makers are the frequent calls.
Booking online works too. With the Sub-Zero freezer's model number in the form, we can check part availability before we come.
First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
Sub-Zero Freezer Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
We are independent: not a Sub-Zero service center, and not authorized by Sub-Zero. If your freezer is still inside the Sub-Zero warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.
How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
How Sub-Zero builds its freezers
Owners usually notice a failing Sub-Zero freezer through frost on the back wall, ice cream that's gone soft, or a drawer that no longer shuts easily. Behind the rear panel of each freezer section sits a coil with its own fan and heater, and a small defrost terminator decides when the heater turns off. If the heater opens or the terminator fails, frost builds each day until the fan can't move air. Over-and-under models hang heavy freezer drawers on slides, and when the slides wear, the drawer seats at a slight angle. That leaves a corner of the gasket open, and more frost forms right there. A leaking ice maker fill line can coat the compartment floor. Older compressors often lose their start relay and gets tested before anything more serious is considered.
Parts that tend to fail on Sub-Zero freezers
- Defrost heater open, frost building daily
- Worn slides letting the drawer sit crooked
- Evaporator fan seized
- Start relay failing on an older compressor
- Ice maker line leaking onto the floor

Sub-Zero Freezer Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Either moist air is getting in or the defrost isn't working. We start with the gasket and how the drawer or door sits, then test the heater and the terminator. A leaking ice maker line can add to the ice and is checked as well.
Usually the slides or rollers, after years under heavy loads. Replacing them lets the drawer close square again. We look at the gasket at the same time, because a drawer that's been sitting crooked often damages it.
