First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
GE Appliances Freezer Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
We are independent: not a GE Appliances service center, and not authorized by GE Appliances. If your freezer is still inside the GE Appliances warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.
How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
How GE Appliances builds its freezers
GE sells chest freezers, uprights, and of course the freezer compartments built into its refrigerators. A chest model is usually manual-defrost and has few parts to fail, so a warm one points to the thermostat, the compressor's start relay, or a refrigerant problem. Frost-free uprights and fridge freezers circulate air with an evaporator fan and melt frost with a timed heater; when that heater or its thermostat quits, the coil ices solid and the temperature climbs. A freezer parked in an unconditioned garage sees summer heat and winter cold, and your manual gives the room temperature range it was designed for. When the power goes out, keep the door shut: USDA guidance is that a full freezer holds food safely for about 48 hours and a half-full one about 24.
Parts that tend to fail on GE Appliances freezers
- Defrost heater open on frost-free models
- Evaporator fan not circulating air
- Start relay clicking, compressor not running
- Chest freezer thermostat not cycling
- Lid or door gasket no longer sealing

GE Appliances Freezer Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
On a frost-free model, heavy frost means defrost isn't happening: look at the heater, its thermostat and the control. A door that doesn't seal can also cause it. On a manual-defrost upright, it simply means it is time to defrost it.
If the door stayed closed, a full freezer generally holds for about 48 hours and a half-full one for about 24. Food that still has ice crystals or reads 40°F or below can be refrozen. When in doubt, follow FoodSafety.gov guidance and throw it out.
