Maytag freezer repair
Maytag Freezer Repair in Maryland
We repair Maytag freezers at homes and businesses in Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Freezer sections of Maytag refrigerators and standalone uprights and chests, often in basements or garages. Defrost heaters, start relays, fan motors and gaskets cause most trouble.
Booking online works too. With the Maytag freezer's model number in the form, we can check part availability before we come.
First the appliance and its location, then your contact details. We follow up to schedule.
Maytag Freezer Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
We are independent: not a Maytag service center, and not authorized by Maytag. If your freezer is still inside the Maytag warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.
How a Freezer Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
How Maytag builds its freezers
Maytag freezer work falls into two groups: the freezer section of a Maytag refrigerator, and a standalone upright or chest freezer, often in a basement or garage. Frost-free models rely on a defrost heater, and when it fails the evaporator slowly packs with ice until the fan can't move air. A start relay on the compressor can click on and off without starting it. Evaporator fans wear out. Gaskets harden and tear, and then humid summer air comes in and turns into frost. Manual-defrost chest freezers are simpler and often have only a thermostat and a compressor. For a freezer in a garage, check the manual's allowed room temperature range, because both summer heat and winter cold can affect how it runs.
Parts that tend to fail on Maytag freezers
- Defrost heater open, coil packed with ice
- Start relay clicking, compressor idle
- Evaporator fan stopped
- Gasket hardened and torn
- Drawer slides or rails broken

Maytag Freezer Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
Most likely you're hearing the relay and overload making repeated attempts on a compressor that won't turn over. Sometimes the relay has failed; sometimes the compressor has. We test both to tell which, because the cost of the two repairs is very different.
Many freezers are designed to run within a set room temperature range, and a very cold garage can keep the thermostat from calling for cooling. Check the ambient range in the manual. If the garage is within range and it still warms, we diagnose it.
