Scotsman Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos
We are independent: not a Scotsman service center, and not authorized by Scotsman. If your ice maker is still inside the Scotsman warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.
How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works
Book the Visit
Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.
Find the Fault
At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.
Approve the Price
You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.
Fix and Check
The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.
How Scotsman builds its ice makers
Inside a Scotsman nugget or flake machine is a vertical freezing cylinder with an auger running up its center. Water freezes to the cylinder wall, the auger shaves it off and lifts it, and at the top it either tumbles out as flake or gets pressed through a compression head into nugget ice, which is the harder-working of the two. Everything the auger does is carried by a gearmotor underneath and by bearings at each end of the auger, while the bottom seal is all that stands between the water and the gearbox. When minerals crust the cylinder wall, the auger grinds harder, so noise, gearmotor overload trips and scale tend to arrive together. A Prodigy cuber has no auger at all. It freezes cubes on a plate, then warms the plate briefly to drop them, and its trouble usually involves scale, the water level sensing, a dusty condenser or a harvest that doesn't complete. Knowing which machine is in front of us decides the whole diagnosis.

Scotsman Ice Maker Repair Questions
The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.
Have a different question?
Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.
The seal at the bottom of the auger is a frequent culprit, as are a plugged drain line and loose water fittings. If the seal is what's leaking, water can work its way into the gearmotor, so it should be replaced promptly.
Prodigy machines have no auger, so it's a different set of causes: scale on the evaporator plate, a dirty condenser, warm room air or a water supply problem. We clean, check airflow and water flow, and only then look at the refrigeration.
