Manitowoc Ice Maker Repair in Houses, Townhomes and Condos

We are independent: not a Manitowoc service center, and not authorized by Manitowoc. If your ice maker is still inside the Manitowoc warranty, go to the manufacturer first. Once it's past that coverage, a model number in your booking lets us source parts ahead of the visit.

Condos & high-rises
Many buildings want a loading-dock slot, an elevator booking or a sign-in at the desk. Mention those rules at booking so the visit fits them.
Stacked laundry
Washer-dryer stacks in closets and hall nooks often have to come out of the space to be worked on. Measurements or a photo help us prepare.
Older houses
A new appliance in a house built decades ago can be let down by the outlet, gas line, drain or vent behind it. We test the supply as well as the machine.
Tenants & owners
A renter can book the visit. We report the fault and the quote to the owner or property manager, whose approval comes before any repair.
Humid summers & garages
Sticky summer air makes fridges sweat and front-loader gaskets smell, and a garage fridge can struggle in the heat. Some of that is upkeep, not a failed part.
A straight answer
If fixing an older unit makes little sense, you will hear that from us, along with which part gave out.

How an Ice Maker Repair Visit Works

01

Book the Visit

Call or use the form. Name the make and describe the fault; a model number, if handy, speeds up parts.

02

Find the Fault

At your place, the technician checks the appliance and whatever feeds it (power, water, drain, gas or venting) until the cause is clear.

03

Approve the Price

You get a plain explanation and a price for the repair. The work starts only if you say yes.

04

Fix and Check

The new part is fitted and the appliance is run through a cycle, so you can see it working.

How Manitowoc builds its ice makers

A Manitowoc cuber makes ice by trickling water down a vertical evaporator plate. A pump lifts water from the trough to a distribution tube at the top, and it freezes in a grid of cubes as it flows. When the slab gets thick enough to bridge between the cubes, it touches the ice thickness probe, and the machine switches to harvest: a hot gas valve warms the plate so the slab drops. The water level probe controls the fill, and a bin sensor or the swinging water curtain signals a full bin. Mineral buildup on the plate or the probes upsets that timing, producing thick, thin, cloudy or fused cubes, and a curtain that doesn't swing back closed can leave the machine idle. QuietQube systems add a remote condensing unit outdoors, which has to cope with hot, humid summers and freezing winter nights.

Parts that tend to fail on Manitowoc ice makers

  • Scale fouling the evaporator and probes
  • Thickness probe dirty or out of adjustment
  • Water curtain not swinging closed
  • Water pump weak or failed
  • Hot gas harvest valve not opening

FAQ

Manitowoc Ice Maker Repair Questions

The questions that come up most often. Anything not covered here, ask us when you call, or add it to the booking form's notes field.

Have a different question?

Tell us what make it is and what's going wrong. A few things can be settled over the phone, and anything else gets looked at during the visit.

The usual causes are scale on the plate, weak water flow across it, or a thickness probe coated in scale or set wrong. A cleaning cycle and a probe check fix many of these. If not, we look at the water pump, inlet valve and water level controls.

The machine may think the bin is full: a water curtain stuck open or a bin sensor misreading will stop production. A harvest that didn't finish, from a weak harvest valve or scale holding the slab, can also halt it. We check those in order and read any stored codes on the control.
